Beekman Transports history goes back to 1937 in that year Marten Beekman began under the name M.Beekman & son. He began in Ugchelen with the transportation of wood for different handlers in the area. This transportation was carried out by horse and cart. In 1952 Albert Beekman joined the company and the company started to expand its services introducing a courier service from Ugchelen to Apeldoorn.

In 1951 Beekman transport purchased its first truck this was a four tiger Chevrolet. Then in 1955 the courier services for Apeldoorn, Huissen, Elden, Elst, Bemmel, Oosterhout, Lent, and Nijmegen were taken over by Beekman transport from the company Van Buren.  Alongside these services the transportation of the wood was still a good form of income so in 1956 Beekman transport introduced its second truck.

During the 1970’s in the Netherlands most of the courier services were divided into different cooperatives and Beekman Transport was a part of such a cooperative. During this time Beekman Transport continued to expand with the takeover of vehicles from a company called Van Houtum & Palm. Then In 1979 the third generation Beekman Martin joined the company.

Through a strong acquisition Beekman Transport was able to continue its growth and in 1989 Alfred Beekman joined the company. At this time Beekman transport moved its warehouse from Ugchelen to Apeldoorn where it shared a larger warehouse with another transport company called stormvogel which within a year was taken over by Beekman Transport and also eventually the company Rodijk from nearby Vaassen was also taken over.

In 1991 there was a reorganisation of the company and the company then became known as Beekman Transport BV and within a year was one of the first transport companies to be granted ISO certification. At this time Beekman Transport had 15 vehicles and in the beginning of the 1990’s was one of the first companies to set up a distribution network throughout the whole of the Netherlands flexibility and quality in its services resulted in a massive growth of the company.

In the mid 1990’s Beekman Transport began its storage services. After a small start the storage capacity grew to an area of 3.000 m2 and a year later Beekman Transport was able to hire a terrain of 30.000 m2 with a storage capacity of 13.000 m2 and the so named warehousing activities continued to grow.

In 1997 Beekman Transport took a decision to look for new premises and bought 1.5 hectare of ground on the oude berghuizerweg in Apeldoorn. And in September 2001 saw the opening of an ultra modern complex of 9.000 m2. Two thirds of this is used for warehousing with eleven docks and room for cross docking etc. there is also office space and garage workshop space for the servicing of our own vehicles.

2001 was also the year that the company Beltman Transport from a place called Olst was taken over. The fleet grows up from 45 to 73 truck units.

In 2004 the storage capacity expanded by 3.500 m2 and again in 2005 by 5.000 m2

Beekman Transport has a total capacity now for 36.000 pallet places and the fleet has about 70 truck units.
